Position summary:

The Palm Lead serves as thought leader internally, and spokesperson externally on RA’s position on the area of expertise. This person leads all aspects of RA´s interest from their programmatic expertise area, ensuring consistency in our approach across the organization and externally. This position works in close collaboration with other units of the Global Program department and other departments, so that programs and projects are strengthened through deep and current subject knowledge and inclusion of all subjects appropriate to the opportunity and purpose. This position is responsible for guiding RA’s overall approach to our work in Palm.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as thought leader internally, and spokesperson externally on RA’s position for palm.

  • Provide programmatic expertise into the design and implementation of RA’s global programs to drive impact at scale, when relevant to the area of expertise.

  • Provide programmatic expertise into the design and implementation of select, key regional programs and projects, as well as supporting with, white papers and example proposals;

  • Provide programmatic interpretation expertise of the data and dashboards provided by the Data & Tech portfolio.

  • Provide programmatic expertise into funding proposals for all RA’s revenue channels (companies, donors; individual philanthropy etc.), and support the fundraising and account management efforts for these as needed.

  • Engage with select external communities of practice or key joint initiatives that support RA’s mission (which ones specifically will be aligned with the Revenue portfolio);

  • Provide expert input for communications material (internal and external), check replies to journalist and others. Support with presentations for management.

  • Cultivate a culture of positive and proactive collaboration, engaging widely and inclusively across the organization, clearly demonstrating having taken broad perspectives into consideration, and embed continuous learning and simplification into all aspects of programmatic work.

  • Lead all aspects of RA’s interest as a whole, rather than from the sector expertise area only.

  • Collaboration with and support to the teams providing data and impact reporting to enhance sector programs.

  • Maintain of outward-in focus on sector work.

  • Provision of clear and effective organization-wide learning in the programmatic sector expertise areas.

  • Any other duties assigned.

Qualifications: 

  • Degree in business administration; business economics; natural resource management; or related field. Master level preferred.

  • Minimum 7 years of progressive relevant experience with a minimum of 5 focused on the Palm sector.

  • Proven experience in building and working well in cross-functional teams.

  • Proven experience in project management

  • Experience working with agricultural producers and/or forest communities in the Palm-sector preferred.

  • Key competencies: Transformational leadership, innovation, adaptability, persuasion, strategic, critical and reflective thinking, public speaking, resourcefulness, relationship builder based on trust, empathy and openness, and strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities in a time sensitive manner; 

  • Strong communication skills and gravitas to be able to serve as a spokesperson for the organization.

  • Collaborative and solid record developing highly effective teams

  • Solid People management experience
