Position summary:

At the Rainforest Alliance we are looking for a collaborative and results oriented Translations Associate to support the Translation Manager with the organization and administration of translations. This is a 1-year contract.


Working with people along the entire organization, the Translations Associate ensures the translations are aligned in different languages. They will be in direct contact with colleagues from throughout the organization and with translators and translation agencies. They will work closely with the Translation Manager to ensure our translated content meets RA’s quality criteria.

  • Receive and evaluate translation requests;
  • Make sure that new documents meet quality requirements before the translation process is started to ensure consistent formatting, design and language use in accordance with internal style guides;
  • Apply translation experience and language knowledge to assist with proofreading and revising tasks;
  • Request and evaluate quotes from translation partners;
  • Support translation manager with financial administration:
  • Communicate and align with budget owners;
  • Create task orders;
  • Manage and check invoices;
  • Liaise with translators and translation agencies to allocate:
  • translation and proofreading work;
  • monitor progress and receive completed translations;
  • Track timelines and deadlines, ensuring that translations are delivered on time and within budget, and to a high degree of accuracy;
  • Assist with internal system of managing and optimizing the translation management process (such as a Translation Management System/Computer Assisted Translation tools);
  • Other duties as assigned.



  • Linguistic skills with the ability to assess quality and completeness of translations;
  • Experience as a translator or interpreter;
  • Native-level fluency in at least one of our priority languages (French, Spanish, Portuguese, Indonesian), as well as excellent English language skills;
  • Experience in the translation industry;
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook with a demonstrated experience in software and working knowledge of PowerPoint;
  • Experience with CAT tools, such as MemoQ, Trados or MemSource preferred;
  • Ability to work with a large number of colleagues on an array of topics;
  • Previous knowledge of sustainability, certification and/or agriculture strongly preferred

  • Creative and great at problem solving; resourceful;
  • Able to work to deadlines and under pressure;
