Full Time Finance - Accounting

Position summary:


The Accountant - Field Office is responsible for the entry of monthly foreign financial transactions into HQ’s accounting system, reconciliation of foreign office cash and advance accounts and checking to ensure field offices meet HQ requirements for field office reporting.  Review of foreign bank reconciliations and advance reconciliation packages as needed and for audit. Administration and reconciliation of program expenses as needed.  S/he will also provide support to the team with analysis of balance sheet accounts and special projects.


Responsibilities: 

  • Work closely with the RAMs globally to ensure the daily/monthly activities of the field transactions related to their HQ are sent on time to HQ.

  • Perform detail reviews of the field office monthly transactions, including that monthly bank reconciliations and petty cash/advances are in order, and enter the month’s report in the corporate accounting system for supervisor review/posting.

  • Ensure foreign transactions are translated in accordance with Accounting P&Ps.

  • Review transaction supporting documentation on a test basis and ensure HQ has access to all field office supporting documents online.

  • Identify and raising accounting issues to his/her supervisor.

  • Assist the department with month/year-end closes, annual audits, tax filings, provide HQ support to RAMs locally required audit and tax issues, and other duties as requested.

  • Assist with administration of program expenses as needed, review reports in accordance with P&Ps and follow-up with staff on submission of related expense reports.

  • Participate in regular meetings with supervisor and RAMs via Teams or email as issues arise.

  • Assist supervisor and RAMs on the month/year-end closes, audits, local tax preparation and filings, timecards, and others.

  • Key delivery is ensuring consistent timely delivery of consolidated field office information on a transactional level each month.

  • Ensure adherence to monthly/quarterly/year-end close checklist schedules for all regions related to her/his HQ.

  • Serve as a backup for other team members as needed. Account Payables)

  • Maintaining effective communication with the Accounting team, Regional Accounting Managers, and other depts as needed.

  • Assist in roll-out of system for consolidated accounting as needed.

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required;

  • 1-2 years relevant experience; non-profit sector experience preferred;

  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel and Internet); comfort working with database programs or other tools preferred;

  • Demonstrated proficiency with accounting system software, expertise in Excel;

  • Professional, friendly demeanor and strong customer service skills;

  • Language skills (in addition to English) a plus;

 

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
